Dehideniya Muslim Maha Vidyalaya was established in 1906 by the great efforts of Mr.Muthalif Arachi with the permission of British rulers

in the land donated by late MR.Ahmadhu Lebbe. The school started marching towards progress with relentless sacrifice of principals namely Mr.Sahul Hameed, MrA.L.Hameed, Mr.Noor Mohamed, M.Mohideen and teachers served at the beginning. There were classes only up to grade 5. The students had to walk several miles to pursue secondary classes. Grade 6 started in 1950.Students sat for S.S.C. only in 1954.

This school was upgraded as Maha Vidyalaya in 1973, a milestone in the history of the school. Although permission was granted to start G.C.E.(A/L) in 1992, it was only possible to start G.C.E.(A/L) Art Stream in 1996. Besides, This school was further upgraded as a C 1 school in1973. When we look back this school has made remarkable achievements with educational and physical resources over the time.
